EGG COWRIE SHELL
Ovula ovum Linnaeus
This thick shell is shaped and colored like an egg. It is considerably bigger than other true cowries. Its glossy surface is sleek and levigate. The thick outer lip has many folds on its inner edge that cause its teeth to be spaced unevenly. The upper half of the aperture is forcefully curved, but the lower half appears straight.
